Dunne confident race pace gains will unlock elusive Formula 2 victory

Alexander Dunne enters the final phase of the Formula 2 season sitting fourth in the Drivers' Championship, underpinned by a consistent run of results that has yielded five podium appearances and four additional top-five finishes. Despite missing out on a victory during the opening rounds, the Rodin Motorsport driver has established a formidable qualifying record, maintaining a streak inside the top three on Fridays at every round since Miami until a tougher outing in Budapest.
Reflecting on his second year in the championship, the Alpine Academy junior credits his sophomore experience and continuity with the Rodin squad for his single-lap speed. While satisfied with his qualifying performances, Dunne acknowledges that race pace remains an area requiring improvement. He notes that recent rounds, particularly at Spa, have yielded a noticeable step forward in understanding how to extract more from the car on longer runs.
The Irish driver maintains that his approach centers on maximising available points regardless of whether the machinery is capable of winning or fighting for fifth place. By focusing on resetting after difficult race starts and extracting the most from every weekend, Dunne believes his team has identified consistent working solutions that will soon put him back on the top step of the podium.
Looking ahead to the upcoming rounds at Monza and the new Madrid street circuit, Dunne refuses to set rigid targets for the championship standings. Instead, he aims to steer clear of trouble and adapt quickly to the high-speed Spanish venue, which presents a clean slate for the entire grid as the battle for victories resumes.
