Tsolov Wins in Austria to Cut Minì's Formula 2 Championship Lead to Two Points

Nikola Tsolov trimmed the Formula 2 championship lead to just two points at the Red Bull Ring, delivering his fourth race victory of the season to keep pressure firm on title rival Gabriele Minì. Minì crossed the line second in Austria to claim top spot in the drivers' standings, but Tsolov’s performance ensured the title race remains balanced as the field moves toward the next round at Silverstone.
The result leaves Minì leading the drivers' standings on 108 points for MP Motorsport, holding a narrow advantage over Campos Racing driver Tsolov on 106 points. The weekend produced another swing in momentum following the previous event in Barcelona, where Tsolov had led the championship by three points over Minì before the trip to Spielberg.
Invicta Racing's Rafael Camara ranks third in the standings with 82 points after collecting valuable ground in Austria. Alex Dunne occupies fourth position for Rodin on 78 points, while Campos driver Noel Leon holds fifth place with 60 points, six points ahead of Rodin's Martinius Stenshorne in sixth on 56 points.
Further down the standings, DAMS driver Dino Beganovic sits seventh on 53 points, remaining on the same tally he held leaving Barcelona. Laurens Van Hoepen of Trident follows in eighth spot with 45 points, while ART Grand Prix's Kush Maini holds ninth on 43 points and Hitech driver Ritomo Miyata stays tenth with 30 points.
Lower in the top twenty, Sebastian Montoya of Prema and MP Motorsport's Oliver Göethe are tied on 28 points in eleventh and twelfth positions. ART Grand Prix driver Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak sits thirteenth on 23 points, closely followed by Invicta's Joshua Dürksen on 22 points and Hitech's Colton Herta on 20 points.
In the teams' championship standings, Campos Racing maintained control of the front position, extending their total to 166 points. Campos currently holds a 30-point buffer over MP Motorsport, who sit second on 136 points after adding significant points during the Austrian event.
MP Motorsport faces intense competition for second position in the team standings, sitting just two points ahead of Rodin on 134 points. Invicta Racing occupies fourth spot on 104 points, while DAMS holds fifth with 68 points, maintaining a slim two-point lead over ART Grand Prix on 66 points.
Trident sits seventh in the team standings with 62 points, ahead of Hitech on 50 points and Prema on 38 points. Van Amersfoort Racing and AIX Racing complete the team standings, level on 20 points apiece after the conclusion of the racing in Spielberg.
The tight margins across both standings set up a closely matched battle for the upcoming race weekend at Silverstone. With only two points separating Minì and Tsolov at the head of the drivers' championship, every session in Great Britain will carry significant weight for the title contenders.
